The wavelength calibration of a spectrum requires to observe the spectrum of a calibration light – that is of a light with numerous emission lines the wavelength of which is perfectly known. We can place such a lamp in front of the telescope, but the Alpy calibration module makes things much simpler, and thus allows a big productivity.
The Alpy calibration module embeds a Argon-neon lamp, the spectre of which is perfectly known:
The calibration module also includes a flat lamp (halogen lamp, with a continuous spectrum).
When one of the lamps is switched on, a small screen is placed in the beam of the telescope (controlled by a servo-motor): the calibration or flat light then illuminates the slit, with optical conditions very close from the telescope.
In addition you can switch off the lamps and leave the screen in place which blocks the beam of the telescope: you can so make dark images, without needing to put a cap on the telescope.
The calibration module must be supplied with 12V – 1A mini (for example with this power supply).
Last but not least, the whole system can be remotely controlled : two connectors can control each lamp (a voltage of 12V on these connectors has the same effect as to activate the switches).

For power supply according europen standard in 220V, you can see single supply or 4 ways.
