Carbon Tube Upgrade for TS - GSO 6" f/5 Newtonians - focus 135 mm above the tube
Carbon Tube Upgrade for TS - GSO 6" f/5 Newtonians - focus 135 mm above the tube
Codice articolo: CT6-666
The carbon tube is suitable for TS Photon TPM6F5 and GSO 6" f/5 Newtonians
♦ The bore for the draw tube of the 2" focuser and the bores for the spider are set.
♦ All other drillings can be done by yourself. If desired, we can drill the holes for you for an additional charge.
♦ The tube is suitable for the GSO spiders, mounts, end rings and tube clamps
♦ When using the GSO components, you get a focus position of 135 mm above the tube.
♦ The tube is only suitable for the TS-Photon and for the GSO tubes, an adaptation to other models, such as Skywatcher, is not possible.
TS-Optics Carbon Tube Upgrade for your TS Photon 150 mm f/5 Newtonian
Equip your TS Newtonian with a carbon tube, increase the stiffness and reduce the dead weight significantly. We offer this very special service to all owners of TS Newtonian telescopes.
The advantages of carbon tubes over metal tubes:
We recommend the carbon tube upgrade especially for astrophotography. The focus drift during temperature changes due to the thermal expansion of the tube is significantly reduced. The images become sharper. In addition, the carbon tube reduces weight while being stiffer than a metal tube. This improves the alignment stability.
The conversion of your telescope:
The carbon tube is suitable for 6" f/5 TS-Photon Newtonians. The large hole for the draw tube of the 2" focuser and the holes for the secondary spider are set. All other holes have to be drilled by yourself. You can use the original parts of your Newtonian as a drilling template. If desired and for an additional charge, we can drill the holes for you.
The actual conversion is very simple, just remove all parts of your telescope until you have the bare metal tube. Then simply install the parts into the new carbon tube. You can use the existing screws.
Safety note and practical tips - drilling in carbon:
We recommend a sharp wood drill for drilling in carbon. On the one hand, the drill bits have a sharp tip, which allows them to be applied precisely, and on the other hand, the drill bit goes well through the material. Metal drills are not so well suited for carbon.
Since carbon dust is hazardous to health, we recommend drilling only outdoors and please wear a mask when drilling.
